We do! It all started months ago when Avery transitioned into her 'big girl' bed. At first she did awesome but then one night she started sneaking in to our room for no real reason. Heck, one night I woke up in the middle of the night to find Avery just looking at me! On another night she snuck in to get a drink of water on the nightstand! We'd always walk her back in to her room, tuck her back in bed and that was that.
She went on a good streak for a few weeks but is now back at it. This time with a new request. She comes in to our room and asks to be tucked back in. Being the mom that i am, I always tuck her back in. But now it's gotten to the point where she wants to be tucked back in multiple times a night. I don't mind the occasional request but Greg and I are starting to loose a decent amount of sleep every night - and so is Avery.
My first thought is that she's testing the limits, seeing what she can get away with and how many times I will do it. My other thought was maybe she's having bad dreams?
So last night, in a desperate attempt to get a full nights sleep, Avery and I made a sticker chart together. The chart has a few things Avery needs to do each night to get a sticker, including sleeping in her bed all night. I told her that if she did a good job at the end of the week she could pick out a prize. She was pumped about this idea last night! Read two books? No problem! Brush teeth? Sure! But then around 1AM I hear the pitter patter of little feet coming in our room. She told me she didn't want a sticker or a prize. She wanted to sleep with me... First night no a great success but we will see how the rest of the week goes.
|Don't mind the messy chart, I QUICKLY made it! Ha! If this idea works, we will try and be prettier next time...|
