hi/bye january?!

January came and went quickly around here! Work is has been crazy busy. When get home from the office, all I want to do is spend time with my hubby and my Avery. So quite a few things have been lagging lately - cleaning, exercising, writing on this blog {to name a few}.

Here is our month in photos:

We rang in New Years Day with some snow! And sadly I think the only snow we got in January. I could not believe how much Avery enjoyed playing in it! She wanted to build a snowman so bad!
We also baked some cookies on New Years Day. Such a relaxing day with my family.

Avery was hit with her first real stomach bug. Boy, that was a doozy. Praying that it doesn't strike for a long time.

But if there's one thing Avery learned while being sick, it was how to be a good doctor/nurse.

Love this photo. Typical morning at our house. Daddy doing Avery's hair as she tries to squirm away.

One of the two beautiful days in January. Avery and I went grocery shopping and played outside. 50-degree weather in January rocks!

I am trying to get back in hot yoga again. Love my yoga and love a good challenge. Kristin, myself, Erika and her sis went together on a Monday evening.

How cute is Avery on this bike? We love Specialized brand!

As an early birthday gift, I got a brand new bike! I am beyond thrilled! Cannot WAIT for some warmer weather to use this baby!
Mimi and Aunt Katy came to spend a weekend with us. Another beautiful 60-degree day that was spent outside washing the cars.

Greg and my social calendar were kind of full this month. After my boss' engagement party, we stopped for some late night Mexican :)

Avery's new favorite word, "myself!" She wants to do everything on her own. Half the time it's adorable, the other half makes me a nervous wreck. This was an adorable moment when Avery helped make smoothies with mommy before work.

Art and Crafts!
Daddy had drinks with a friend while mommy and Avery had a girls night! Complete with chicago-style pizza {if you haven't tried Pudgey's in Omaha-do it!} and Beauty and the Beast.

Aves sat through a good 40 minutes of the movie. Daddy came home and watched the rest with us.

Momma got bangs - what do you think? They are slowly growing on me. It was time for a change. I have received many compliments, especially from my husband! Score!

We are all about makeup these days! Taking after Aunt Katy!

Time for a ride, mom! Greg's birthday gift to me - matching helmet!

I turned 28 this year! We had an awesome brunch at Louie's Wine Dive.

Sickness strikes again! I can't complain though - this is only Avery's second cold this winter. Her poor chest and cough were so tight we decided on a breathing treatment.

My sister thinks Avery has OCD. It makes me laugh because both Greg and I have it but with completely different things. Avery always has to align each prince and princess the same way every time they sit at their table.

Diggin' the new art for our living room. Another good birthday gift.

This month, I learned the importance of a good spouse. I now appreciate my spouse even more than I already did. Thank goodness I have a hubby that doesn't mind cleaning up puke or scrubbing out poopy clothes, who is patient when Avery is throwing a tantrum {yes, the terrible two's have hit} and also knows how to make his wife feel special on her birthday. Not trying to brag, but I picked a good one! Happy Friday to everyone!

2013 in a nutshell

Summary of 2013 for the Haus':

January - My sister, Kristin, moved in with us a few days a week when she began nursing school full-time. I loved having her around and at the time, Greg was working a second job so it was nice to have another person around. I celebrated my 27th birthday with dinner at Stokes and a Satchel Grande concert with good friends. At the end of the month, Avery got her first stomach bug.

February - Avery had her ear tubes put in. We were prepared for a rough surgery but were pleasantly surprised and how fast it was and was awesome she felt after it happened. Avery also had her 1-year photo shoot at the house.

March - Avery turns 1! We had a carnival-inspired birthday party with friends and family. Greg, Libby and Greg's mom & sis went to the Maroon 5 concert and had a blast! Avery participated in her first Easter egg hunt in Lincoln. However, it was so cold we really didn't get to enjoy it! We celebrated Easter in Columbus (even though Avery had been sick with a virus the entire week beforehand).

April - This month brought cold weather...still! Greg went down to Tulsa for a long weekend to help his parents paint the house. We attended the BOLT gala at my alma mater: Pius, with the Richter family. Avery went on her first charity walk with my family. Avery and I also went with Sara to a bridal show.

May - I celebrated Mother's Day with an entire weekend! Greg and I went on a date to see The Great Gatsby, I planted flowers with my mom and our little fam had a fun brunch at Louie's Wine Dive. We took Avery on her first bike ride of the season! We spent Memorial Day in Tulsa with Greg's family! Jon, Kristin & Alexa moved in to the house for a couple of months. Even though it was crowded, we loved it.

June - We attended our first wedding of the season. Greg and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary. The CWS came to Omaha so our family attended a game for Father's Day and we took Avery down to tailgate for another.

July - Our 4th of July was spent in Okoboji with my family. We had never been and want to go back! The remainder of the month was dedicated to the Elder Wedding & festivities: bridal showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties and Jamaica! So many fun memories and a not-so-fun one...my staples :(

August: Greg went on his annual Haus boys trip to St. Louis to see the Cardinals play. We spent lots of time outside going on walks with Avery. Greg and I attended my office's annual lake party. Avery and I went on the JDRF walk as well. We got our first glimpse of fall on a Taco Ride with the Wagner's. My parents hosted a pizza and keg night in Lincoln. It was a super fun night playing bags at The Bar.

September: I attended my first Husker football game of the season with my brother, Jon. Greg and I attended our last wedding of the year. Avery got her first haircut ever - and didn't mind it! Our dinner club started back up and Greg and I hosted a luau party. Labor Day was celebrated with a day at the lake with good friends.

October: This month was when Avery's constant sicknesses came. It was the first time she ever had bronchiolitus. This was also the month we started her with the chiropractor and have never looked back {more on that later}. We celebrated all things fall this month: haunted houses, pumpkins, football, trick-or-treating. Avery was an owl for Halloween this year and loved every minute of it. Greg took a leap of faith, applied for a job in a completely different field and was offered a position.

November: We celebrated Greg's birthday and a whole month of a healthy baby! Avery discovered how much she loved Thomas the Train. I stood outside for 6 hours in the cold to meet Pioneer Woman. We also spent Thanksgiving in Tulsa. The holidays really made this month fly. Avery set up her own Christmas tree in the basement and had lots of fun taking the ornaments off and on.

December: The outlet malls opened near our house so we had a Richter annual shopping day that Greg wasn't able to partake in due to a stomach bug. This month was spent doing lots of Christmas decorating, shopping and wrapping. We attended our annual Nutcracker performance with the Wagner's and also went to an ugly sweater party. We spent Christmas with my family in Lincoln. Greg's family came up shortly after to celebrate. Greg, Avery and I spent New Year's Eve on the basement couch watching Harry Potter.

----
Whew! Looking back, it has been a good year! This next year I am looking forward to: Greg's adjusting even more to his job, our trip to Breckenridge with the Wagner's in March, Avery celebrating her 2nd birthday, and our plans to put a veggie garden in the backyard. It may be a simple life, but it's MY life and I love it.

Cheers to 2014!
