splish splash

Our new favorite thing to do - swim! The Haus' bought a pool membership this summer for a nearby neighborhood swimming pool. Avery and I have been going every chance we get. Slowly but surely, Avery is getting more brave in the water. We took daddy to the pool for the first time on Saturday and Avery started walking around kiddie pool! {the non-heated pool is a bit chilly} I can't wait to see her progress at the end of the summer.

{father's day post coming tomorrow!}

movin' and a packin'

This weekend it was time to get Jon and Kristin moved in to their new house! It was the perfect weekend to do so with all of the rain {well, maybe not for my dad who had to load everything in the rain} but it was nice for the ladies in the family who could spend time indoors unpacking dishes, rearranging chairs, etc. A special thanks to my hubby who helped with lots of handiwork around the house. He is so awesome. With the help of the entire Richter crew, the house is ready to be lived in. I had so much fun spending time with my family. We laugh so hard about the dumbest things.

On Friday Avery had a fever so I picked her up from Nanna's. I'm not quite sure what was wrong other than that she has a few teeth coming in. According to her doctor, her fever was too high for it to just be teeth. You could tell she didn't feel good on Friday but I'm not sure what was wrong. I am looking forward to when Avery can communicate more about what hurts.

On a side note, this rainy weather has me in a funk! I am ready to get outside!

**and for those of you who are wondering what the heck that necklace is around Avery's neck - it's an amber teething necklace. It is a 'natural' remedy for babies that are teething.

Girls Brunch & church with Kristin!

one, big, happy family

For those of you that don't know, the Haus residence has had some houseguests for the past month. My sister, brother and sister's friend have all been staying with us. And for those of you that have never seen our little bungalow-of-a-house, it's pretty small. Perfect size for our family of three, not the perfect size for a family of six! But we have welcomed them with open arms because living in our house was the only place they've had up in Omaha until this weekend. They are renting a cute, little house just west of the Dundee area.

Kristin and Alexa (Kristin's friend) are in to their third semester at Clarkson College for nursing. They take over the guest room three nights a week. We usually only see them in passing as they are usually leaving to study about the time we come home from work and out the door for class before 7 AM. Yesterday Kristin left wearing a lab coat! So professional!

My brother, Jon, was offered an internship at Peter Kiewet for engineering. He is the only person from Lincoln that was accepted so it's quite an honor. He is up here full-time for the summer until this fall when school resumes for his masters program. At first when Jon asked to stay with us for an entire month, it made me nervous. Not that I don't enjoy spending time with my brother, it was just that our little family would never have time to ourselves. And I like having my personal time probably more than others do. However, we have been pleasantly surprised with how fun it's been. Jon is a great help to me around the house. He helps clean and watch Avery if I am making dinner. Greg has also enjoyed having another guy at the house. Greg has mentioned the last few nights that Jon should just keep living with us. LOL. And poor Jon, bless his heart - he gets an air mattress in the basement behind the couch to stay. He has been such a good sport about it.

Tomorrow everyone will be moving out their things and moving into the new pad. It will sure be strange having a quiet house again.

What our dinners have looked like for the past couple of weeks. Love this weather and all of the helpful hands that assist with dinner time!

circus time!

I was planning on posting photos I took on my digital camera from the weekend {i am attempting to get better with using that thing} but I can't find it. Imagine that! So iPhone photos it is. We took Avery to the circus for the first time on Friday night. It was a nice little family evening. We went to Mojo Smokehouse in our old neck of the woods prior to the show. It had been awhile since we went and we were pleasantly surprised with how yummy the food was and how affordable their drink menu was. Although Avery wasn't a huge fan of her grilled cheese, she LOVED the fries and now wants to eat everything like a big girl - no little pieces of food around here!

We sat 6 rows from the floor at the circus. Avery was entranced with everything happening. For some scenes she just stared, others she pointed and said 'yay!' and clapped. Either way, she sat and watched for an entire hour which, for a toddler, is record time. Greg wasn't a huge fan of how they treated the animals and to be honest, I wasn't either. I think seeing the movie "Water for Elephants" had something to do with that. But overall Avery loved it and I would go back just to see her excited face when the poodles ran across the floor.

In addition to the circus, Greg and I attended a beautiful wedding on Saturday night while Avery stayed in Lincoln with my parents. I took advantage of a quiet house on Sunday by deep cleaning the guest room, scrubbing the wood floors and vacuuming the entire house. Oh, and cleaning Avery's room. I love when that room is clean - it usually never is!

A couple of photos my dad sent from Lincoln. Love my silly girl!!
