snowmageddon = an epic fail

Last week we anticipated the arrival of snowmageddon. I stocked up on ingredients for crockpot recipes and kept our DVR full of shows. The snow began on Thursday around noon. I left the office at 2:00 to pick up Avery and head home, Greg followed around 3:30 and Kristin was already at the house. We were all home tucked away expecting to wake up to over a foot of snow. To our disappointment, we got a measly 6 inches...6 INCHES! What a joke. Lesson learned: don't trust the news. Clearly, when there isn't a lot going on around town, the lead story becomes weather-related.

The one positive to the evening of the storm was a crockpot baked potato soup that my sister, Kristin made. It was easy, scrumptious and the perfect meal for a snowy day.

The remainder of the weekend looked a little like this: Old Chicago pizza + Grimm marathon with my hubby in bed, an afternoon trip to Home Depot to price out some wainscotting for the dining room/living, a last minute trip to Lincoln to see my family and dine at Fireworks {my favorite restaurant in Lincoln EVER} and last but not least, finding a new show on ABC that we are totally obsessed with: Zero Hour.

Today we have another chance of snow. I am brushing it off, though, after this last letdown. Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.

Excited about Avery's first pigtails!

Slightly obsessed with buying adorable jammies for Avery. These are my favorite to date!

whatchya think?!

As you can see, I am re-designing my blog. I am loving it - much more 'me'! I'm not sure what has gotten in to me, but I've been inspired to do a little revitalizing. I hope you like it as much as I do!

I've got to tell ya - this blogspot is one tricky site to work with. Seriously! I've never been so frustrated working on perfecting something. I still have some little tweaks to make, but overall I am done. If anyone reading this has any suggestions on how to add a new font to the body post, please tell me! I have read about 7 tutorials and none of them are helping...

More photos, stories and catchy posts names to follow....Happy Monday!

avery's ear tubes

Yesterday Avery had her little 'surgery' for her ear tubes. Everything went great. I have to say, I am so thankful for all of the texts, emails, calls and messages we received checking up on Avery and keeping her in your prayers. You know who you are and it really means a lot to me - thank you!!

We had to be at the hospital at 5:30AM. Avery stayed up the entire time, I figured she would've fallen back asleep on the drive but nope! After we checked in we met our nurse, the anesthesiologist, the support staff and the doc. When they took Avery away, she wanted to bring Lenny her lemur :) Within 5 minutes, the ENT came out and said she did great and they were waiting for her to come out of anesthesia. About 15 minutes later, Avery was back in our arms wanting to have a 'ba ba' and playing with some stacking cups.

Avery has been a little off balance since yesterday (which they warned us would happen) but otherwise seems as if nothing happened. SHe is such a trooper. Mom, dad and Avery all took some naps yesterday. I am so glad that is over with! Today we are back to normal, back to daycare and work.

Now it's time to prepare for the snowstorm everyone is talking about. I must admit, I am stoked about it. I am probably the only person with those feelings. I already have our crockpot meals planned!

Twinsies! After Avery's pre-surgery appt. Believe it or not, the doc said she already had another ear infection. She had only been off her antibiotics for 3 days...

Arriving at the hospital at 5:30AM

Holding Lenny pretty tight before surgery.
Right after surgery. Sorry I'm not wearing makeup!

My view for about 45 minutes...

Ready to play right after surgery!

new car!!

Greg and I bought a new car this weekend! YAY!! It's been a long time coming. I have wanted a new car for years, but even more once Avery was born. We were initially looking for a car, like an Accord, but when my dad told me about this car on the lot (my dad sells cars) we decided to go check it out and loved it. Leather seats, navigation, sunroof, a Honda and right in our price range....perfect! So here I am with a vehicle I can FINALLY say that I picked out.

Greg's parents also came up for the weekend. We enjoyed spending time with them and they watched Avery on Saturday night so we could go and celebrate Matt McWilliam's birthday. Love this group!

In addition, Avery had her 1 Year photoshoot on Sunday! She was ADORABLE and a total ham the entire time. I am in suspense with waiting for these photos. Even after a year, I still think every darn thing she does is cute. I hope I'm not the only parent like that?!?

Valentines 2013 (and Ash Wednesday)

It's Avery's first Valentines Day! Last year at this time I was preparing for the arrival of our baby girl. I thought for sure she'd be in my arms by the end of the month. I was wrong!

Avery is celebrating Valentines Day with a party at daycare! All of the little girls were so excited to see what Avery wore for Valentines Day when I dropped her off this morning. It was so cute.

I am bummed Greg is working tonight but at least Kristin is here to spend the evening with me and A.  I'm hoping we can squeeze in a quick date this weekend.

"Mom, are all the valentines in here for my friends?"

Oh, and last night Kristin, Greg, A, and I went to Ash Wednesday mass and then to dinner at the Dundee Dell. For those that have never been, they have the best fish and chips ever. I love that place. Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent and I love this time of year. Spring is on it's way! (hopefully...)

I've been waiting to post these funnies for the right day. And for some odd reason - today is that day:

Lenny & Tubes

Most babies have a comfort blankey, right? Not Miss Avery, she has a comfort Lemur. Lenny the lemur to be exact! She sleeps with Lenny, gives him hugs, talks to him, squeals with delight when she sees him. Although it's incredibly random we think it's adorable.

Avery and Lenny

Today we also went to an ear specialist to have Avery's ears checked out. They say you are a good candidate if you've had 4 ear infections within a year. Avery has had 4 infections within the last 3 months. The doc took one (well, 2) look in her ears and said she's the perfect candidate for tubes. Although the idea of surgery at such a young age is kind of scary, it's a very standard procedure and at the end of the day we want Avery to feel 100% and to be able to recover from her colds with out getting an ear infection.

I was shocked at how nonchalant they were about having the surgery. "So, when do you want to schedule it?" Holy shit, I guess we need to talk about it was both Greg and my response! We may have it done as early as next week....so say a prayer for us!

Spent the day with Sara on Sunday doing wedding stuff!

Boring Friday Post

TGIF!! I am so looking forward to the weekend. The funny thing about it is that I am looking forward to Saturday because we have absolutely nothing planned. It is supposed to rain Saturday night and I forsee a movie night for the Haus'. My have times changed :) But I am not complaining because I love spending time with my family more than anything. I hope you all enjoy your weekend just as much as I hope to.

I haven't had much of a chance to blog this week! I have been really busy at work and Avery/household chores keep me busy in the evening.

The most exciting news I have is that Avery is officially walking! She literally will walk down the hall if I sit at one end of the hall and someone sits at the other end. Her face is so serious as she walks and she holds her arms out like Frankenstein. But she is sure proud of herself once she is done. We love that little girl so much!

I realized that I haven't taken many pictures over this past week....booo me. Other events that happened since I've blogged: Saturday night we went to a co-workers birthday dinner, which was fun. We didn't stay long because Avery wasn't feeling 100%. Fast forward to Tuesday, she was holding her ears and balling when we got home from Nanna's so I took her over to Urgent Care and, yes, she has a double ear infection again (on top of her head cold). Poor thing! Monday we have an appointment with the Ear Specialists of Omaha to see if tubes are in her future.

Tonight we have our dinner club! I can't decide if we are going or not with Avery not being 100%...

Reading with Daddy. I love capturing these moments.

Being snoopy before bathtime.

At the doctors office...

Practicing our walking! She loves wearing her big girl shoes.

Anyone else notice my photos of Avery are rarely face-on anymore?? That's because she is so busy, she doesn't sit still long enough for me to get those snap shots. Oh well!
