WTF!?

So yesterday I went to upload photos from this past week and blogger.com told me that I was over my photo size limit and I would need to purchase more space in order to upload more pictures to my blog!? WTF!! Not sure what my next step is, but I don't want to discontinue writing on here!

Avery's First Trip to Tulsa

This past weekend we finally made it down to Tulsa. Avery was a trooper with the traveling! We didn't have to stop once for her on the 7 hour drive! We were able to celebrate Greg's birthday, visit both grandmas and grandpa, eating at our favorite Tulsa restaurants and shop at the outlet malls. We had a good time - and will be back in a month to celebrate Christmas. I am so lucky to have such fun in-laws, there's never a dull moment!!

Yes, we let Avery out of her seat for awhile.

Whether you're an OU fan or not, this is too darn cute!
Meeting Great Grandma Akin!

Dinner at In the Raw Sushi, so yummy. No, Greg didn't have one too many saki bombs :)

Cheerios!

Playing with Nownie & Gpaul

I've got matching cowboy boots like my Uncle Brad!

Random Monday Thoughts

1. I am really proud of myself because today I started on Greg's Christmas gift. My poor hubby is usually the last on my list, which means I usually don't have time to get him what he really wants. He made it a point to remind me this weekend that he always picks up on my cues when I hint at something I want. Now I am returning the favor. After 6 years of being together I thought I'd be better at this. I can't wait to see the smile on his face this year when he opens his gifts to find it's EXACTLY what he wants :)

2. I am chopping my hair off. Yep. It's way too long. It's a lot of maintenance. Most importantly I am ready for a change. I've spent so many years growing it out thinking it was exactly what I wanted. I've come to find out that it's not. That and I'm not 18 years old anymore. I don't get to throw it in a pony tail for school all day and call it good. I now have an 8 month old that thinks it's fun to tug at my locks and an 8-to-5 job that requires me to look professional. So good bye hair!

Lately I've been channeling Emily from Revenge. I'm thinking of doing something similar to this:

3. The greatest pleasure I have on Mondays (besides seeing Avery's face when I pick her up) is the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is on. Oh how I love Kyle Richards. I love her hair and her kitchen and her adorable little family. I just re-read the beginning of this thought and it sounds dirty....tehehe :)

4. I am LOVING how our living room is coming together. My friend, Megan, and I have been talking about stenciling for months now. I have found one I love and she has been working on hers in her bathroom. Wallpaper is out - stenciling is in! I can't wait to stencil on our fireplace wall.

Avery's 1st Cold

BLAH! - the perfect way to describe my feelings towards Avery's first cold. Nanna called me on Thursday because Avery had a fever. So off I went to pick her up from daycare. The first week there and she is already sick...awesome. When I saw her, her little face just read, 'I'm congested'. I felt for her. In the last 72 hours, I have never dealt with so much snot, crying, and Vick's vapor rub.

Even worse, we weren't able to go down to Oklahoma to visit Greg's family. I was personally looking forward to getting away for a few days and Greg was excited to see his family. However, I'm glad we decided to stay back and take the time to get Avery better. I cannot imagine driving down there with a stuffy, fevered baby. It would've been pure torture for everyone involved.

Today Avery seemed to be feeling lots better so she went to Nanna's again. I know that getting sick (especially infants) is inevitable. But it's such a horrible feeling to see them so miserable. Greg and I have had such little sleep lately, we both are starting to feel run down. Let's hope this passes soon!

Friday night Greg and I though we'd take advantage of the situation by making a favorite around here: soup and grilled cheese and watch Harry Potter. We didn't get very far in to the movie before Avery woke up...

Groggy baby was still in pretty good spirits.

We got pretty desperate on Saturday night and decided to have Avery sleep in her carseat. Best decision we made all weekend. It really helped her be able to breathe.

Family Picture Frenzy

Here is a teaser from our photo shoot yesterday! I can't wait to see more! But Miss Avery was NOT having it. She was groggy from waking up from her nap, hungry and to top it off it was chilly outside. Her normally cheerful, smiley self was not coming out and I was panicking! We drove 2 hours to get these pictures taken. Finally she started coming around, but I felt so flustered the entire time; worrying that any minute she would throw a fit. I hope they turn out good. The photographer spent a lot of time getting props set up and was trying her hardest to get Avery to laugh.

After pictures, Greg begged me to drive an extra 20 miles to Hastings (our old stomping grounds) for dinner at our favorite Wednesday night hang-out in college: the Reno. $1 burgers, $1 fries, $1 beers. Since today is my hubby's birthday I agreed. And damn was that hamburger good. $10 for our entire meal with tip - really?! I could get used to that.

As we were driving home we both noticed Avery's runny nose. When we got home, she was NOT ready for bed and her nose was running even more! I finally got her to bed around 1AM and woke up to a very stuffy-nosed baby with a little cough :( Avery's first cold is here. We have had a lot going on these past couple of weeks and now I'm getting mommy guilt about going, going, going with her.

On another note - happy birthday to my wonderful husband, Greg. What else is there to say besides Yippee! Another year we get to celebrate together. Every year keeps getting better and better! He brings me up with I'm feeling down. He takes care of the house, our bills, our cars, our family....he is an all-around swell guy! I love him more than words can say. We have built an amazing life together and I can't wait to see where it leads us! XOXO

Political Rant

Ok, I've got to say this because it's driving me crazy: You know what I think is sad about this whole election? Republicans AND Democrats bashing and degrading one another based on their vote on FACEBOOK. How is trashing others helping to build our country. Whether you believe in our current leaders or not, negative comments towards others only divides our country more. I have hope that things will work out the way they are meant to.

That's it - the end. Life goes on...tonight our little gang has family pictures! Yay!

Random iPhone Pics

Just a few random photos off my phone that I forgot to post. Is your Tuesday afternoon going slow? Mine is!

Oh and one more thing - Day 1 of daycare went nice and smooth. Avery sang in her carseat on the way home and was wiped out all evening! I could get used to this!!

Are you sick of seeing this centerpiece? If you are - TOO BAD! We had to move our sectional into 2 pieces to accommodate the 12 person table.

The aftermath of the evening...(have I mentioned my desire for new countertops and appliances? one day...)

My big girl eating her puffs!

New favorite thing to do...

All she wants to do is stand and play. How is this possible?

Dinner Club, Engagement & Time Change

Wowza! What a weekend we've had! Let's start at the beginning:

Friday: It was Greg and my turn to host dinner club. My mom and grandma came to get Avery so we'd have a chance to prepare for our guests. Our inner hosting kicked in and we were really impressed with how the evening went. Our theme: Oktoberfest. I made beer braised pork and homeade mac and cheese with a toppings bar (jalepenos, tomatoes, peppered bacon & gorgonzola). In addition to dinner, we did a beer tasting for Greg's birthday with 4 different kinds of Oktoberfest beer. We ended the night with a couple of board games. Our guests didn't leave until 2AM! That is record time for staying for Greg and me! Have I mentioned how I am loving this club? It's been a blast getting to know everyone better! Greg and I thought that in time it might be fun to invite some outside guests into the group just to meet everyone.

However, that was not the most exciting part of the evening: Sara and Chop announced that they were ENGAGED!!! Sara has been my best friend since the 3rd grade and practically my second sister. I am beyond excited for them and it made for a great evening with lots of cheer-sing and champagne!!

Sara if you are reading this: I love you so much and am so thrilled for you that you have found your soulmate. You both make a great team and we always have a blast together. You deserve all the happiness in the world and I'm so glad that you've found that.

Saturday: Greg started working on a little project, that turned into a big project - replaced some insulation and wood on the fireplace. I cleaned up the house, spent time with Avery and tried out the new Chick-Fil-A restaurant that opened this past week. It was a mad house, I tell ya. I've never experienced such a frenzy at a fast food place.

Sunday: I couldn't wait to sleep in an extra hour with the time change. Unfortunately no one gave Avery the memo so she was up and at 'em at 6:00AM. Sigh.....However, she is already in bed because she thinks it's 9:00 so that's a plus!

Tomorrow is Avery's first day of daycare. I am a little anxious and both Greg and I are dropping her off. Send some positive vibes our way that the day goes great for all of us :)

Spending time with Bobbi.

Blurry but a picture of our table. Greg worked really hard on making the centerpiece for the evening.

Cheers to the soon-to-be Elders!

Beer ballot.

Happy Birthday to Greg!

Feeling so blessed to have the people in my life that I do - these pictures are proof of that!

Halloween 2012

We celebrated another Halloween in our house AND Avery's first Halloween as a CUPCAKE! Although we didn't officially take her trick-or-treating, we showed her off to our neighbors and took her to my office in her costume. She also helped us hand out candy and loved seeing all of the kids and their costumes. We may have went a bit overboard on her Halloween outfits this year (she had 3 throughout the day) but oh well :)

Hmm this hay is pretty cool!

Her only treat in her treat bag: fruit snacks!

Halloweened out...

Until next year!
