Had to find a little humor in politics :)

The politics banter has already begun - and I'm already sick of it. You bring up the word election and people instantly think you want to debate. Truthfully, I'm not a huge political person. I think politics are all a conspiracy. BUT this year I've decided to try and learn as much as I can about the candidates so that I can make an educated vote when the time comes. I need to - for my future, Greg's future and for most importantly Avery's future.

The hard part of this is finding unbiased information - if that's even possible!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on who to vote for and why; just don't expect to argue or to pursue me one way or the other. This is all I will say about the election and may the best candidate win...who ever that may be!

Wish List

Oh Lordy, I found a new piece of jewelry I am crazy about:

An "A" pendant for "Avery". I am obsessed with this! Now how can I justify this purchase to Greg? :D

Just the Two of Us

Waking up this morning to no baby noises coming from the nursery was beyond weird. Last night was equally as weird when we knew we could turn the TV volume up past 9:00PM and didn't have a night light on across the hallway. Avery is in Lincoln with my mom until tomorrow and we are missing her terribly! I literally found myself walking around the house last night like a lost was like I didn't know what to do since she was gone!

What would've been the perfect opportunity for Greg & I to have watched a movie in bed or to have gone to bed early turned into a talk-fest and photo-swap about/of Avery. We are such nerds. Tonight we are going to try and take advantage of having an evening with just the two of us. But I am already looking forward to my 3-day weekend with my babe!

Here are some pictures from this past week:

The Ryan's came over for dinner and to see Avery. Andrew was a good helper and gave Avery every.single.toy he could find. LOL

One of my all-time favorites! (Got to give Greg credit for this pic) Avery has been scrunching her nose and breathing fast - almost like a little piggy. My book says she's at the age where she will try and make us laugh and she's doing a great job of it!

Finally getting around to some painting! This picture doesn't do the color justice - really looks beautiful. Good job, hubby!

Greg was on a painting kick Friday - after painting the wall he proceeded to paint some drywall in the garage.

Avery in her Levi's jeggings! So darn cute! We ran errands on our rainy Saturday and then went to church and dinner as a family.

Cuddling with my goofy girl.

Playing before off to Lincoln.

There's that scrunchy face again!

It's official...we have a roller on our hands! Greg finally mastered the skill of rolling! KIDDING! Our little Avery has. After months of practicing and enticing her with toys on each side of her blanket, she is finally consistently rolling over. She started rolling a few months ago but only on a rare occasion. She'd roll one day and then days, weeks would go by without her rolling again. The doctor said it wasn't anything to worry about - but that was at her 4-month appointment - and now she is over 5 months old. So naturally, as a parent, you begin to worry when your baby isn't hitting the typical milestones that others are at her age. I was beginning to get a little panicky.

So I was thankful for this past week when Avery started rolling more and more (lots for my grandma) and then these past couple of mornings I have woken up at 5AM to a whining baby because she had rolled over in her sleep and got her hand caught. Then I came home from yoga last night to Greg videotaping Avery. She would roll over, Greg would place her on her back and a minute later she'd roll again! And again!

I am so excited for Avery. Seeing her accomplish a new skill makes me feel like I need to tackle something. And by something, I mean my enormous work load at the office today. Today I'm going to get some serious work done like a boss. CARPE DIEM!

This is Avery sleeping this morning - she figured out how to move both hands out from under her so she could fall back asleep.

Hot tub for Sale!

My last post of the day - I promise! Greg and I are selling our hot tub...we just never use it and it takes up space in our backyard. The hot tub is less than 2 years old and has barely been used. If you or anyone you know is interested, you can email

Here's the link:

Twist on a Typical Monday

My Mondays typically consist of keeping busy in the mornings at work because I know once the afternoon hits, the office will get quiet. And I know that the only thing that will get me through the afternoon is thinking of Avery and reminding myself which shows are on Monday nights to watch (right now: Bachelor Pad, Grimm and Real Housewives of NY). Those damn Housewives shows are sadly my addiction...

But yesterday I wanted to give myself something exciting to look forward to after work. So we changed up our usually boring Monday with a Girl's Dinner Date! Avery and I met my BFF, Sara, for dinner and drinks at J.Coco. It was nice to catch up with her and hear what was new with her and Chop. Our dinner was awesome and our Riesling was perfect. Avery ended the night trying on the final piece to her adorable cupcake costume for Halloween :)

Greg had Cole over last night because they are designing some kind of ramp for biking. He ended the night was his Monday indoor soccer league.

"Ummm, Dad, time to wake up and play!"

Loved our date with Sara!

Avery the Cupcake Baby. She's as sweet as a cupcake, too.

Avery has really been into reading lately. Whether someone is reading to her or she is playing on her own, she loves it. If I lay out a bunch of toys, she has been gravitating towards the books.

Ok, now time to relax and watch TV :)

Good Quote

Greg, Avery and I may not be the most wealthy, drive the most lavish cars, have the largest house on the block, or hang with the elite but we are rich in so many other areas in life that, in my option, are the ones that count. Don't get me wrong, it would be great to have a large disposable income but would I trade it for a healthy, happy, family-filled life? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

No Mon, No Fun

"Wait a minute, Mom. Where is all the money in my purse to go shopping with???"

"WHAT?? You mean to tell me there's none??? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!"

The Dog Days are Over?!

I'm about to do a happy dance - I am in love with the gorgeous weather today! 85 degrees feels like 65 degrees after the summer we've had. I heard on the radio this past July was the hottest it's ever been, even warmer than the Dust Bowl summer. Soooo does this mean the dog days are over?! (Cue Florence & the Machine's song). One can only hope...

Since I am so happy about the weather, I thought I'd post some other things that make me happy:

My hubby is on a biking kick. He says Colorado has inspired him to ride. I am proud of him!

Last night we sat on the patio and relaxed while Greg grilled.

Electric Lemonade mmm! Went along nicely with Greg and my romantic night of watching Bachelor Pad.

Went home for lunch today and daddy still had Aves in her jammies. I was jealous.

Week with Mimi & Aunt Katy

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law came this past week to help out with Avery for the week. It was a BIG help to us and we enjoyed them staying with us. I know that they had fun seeing Avery and all of the new things she does. Seems like she grows every day!

Here are a few pictures from the week:

Bedtime stories with Mimi. We try and read a book every night before bed now.

POOPY HIGHCHAIR - GROSS! I was feeding Avery her rice cereal and I knew something was up because she wasn't her chatty, messy self. When she was done, I took her out of the chair only to find a massive blowout all over her onesie and highchair

Such a happy baby!

Mmmmm already following in our footsteps of loving ranch dressing....

This past week I designed Sara's classroom pamphlets for Back-to-School night. Lovin how they turned out!

Beck's Shower & The Haus'

With Caitlin out of the country this month, we have had to ask family to step in and help watch Avery a few weeks this month. We are so lucky to have family that wants to help as much as they can.

So this week Roberta & Katy came up from Tulsa to watch Avery. They cannot believe how much she has grown and is talking. Still the same old sweet, happy baby she's always been though :)

This past Saturday was Jessie Beck's bridal shower at Soaring Wings Winery. Can't believe her wedding is already around the corner. I need to get working on her wedding programs! Eeek!
Beck's Bridal Shower - hard to get a good picture with the sun/wind.

I LOVE playing with my toes - they are usually in my mouth!

My mom bought us a jogging stroller. Looks like it's time to me to start running. My last 5 pounds have decided to stick around longer then I'd like :(

Roberta, Katy & I had some wine on the deck yesterday afternoon while Avery slept.

Avery fell asleep on the stroller ride last night. Look at those gorgeous lashes!

Train & Others

After a fun evening at the Train concert, I am in need to some greasy food and my bed....and it's only 9:00 in the morning. Going to have to tough-it through the day today in hopes that tonight we be a quiet and relaxing evening. I am really looking forward to the weekend and catching up on some sleep.

The concert was in Lincoln at the Pinewood Bowl - cool venue! Greg loved the indian.

Goood times :)

The family that jams together, stays together. Love my fam. (Kristin had to work.)
And here are just a few other random pictures from this past week:

Caitlin's last time feeding Avery her cereal for awhile. Our nanny is going to Ecuador for the month of August. Luckily for us, she will be back for another year until med school next fall.
We are sure going to miss her this month!

I bought Avery a Sophie before she was born after reading such awesome reviews on it. She hasn't really been interested in Sophie up until this week. Now it's her new favorite chew toy.

Silly picture that Caitlin sent to me this week :)

According to my blog stats, our blog has been viewed over 6,000 times! Woo-hoo! Thank you to all who read and enjoy hearing about the Haus adventures - brings a big smile to my face :)

Avery says, 'thanks for following me, too!'
